The Slide Awards recognise the hottest products for the 2016/17 winter season and acknowledge innovation in snowsports across three categories: Hardware, Software and Accessories. The awards are voted for by SIGB retail members, press and industry opinion leaders. Slide 2016, which is showcasing next winter’s snowsports products for the first time, is organised by the Snowsport Industries of Great Britain (SIGB) and plays a key role in the retailer’s buying process as well as giving the snowsports trade first views of products from more than 220 brands. Slide, the wintersport tradeshow taking place at the Telford International Centre from 19-21 January 2016, run by SIGB (Snowsport Industries of GB) has had a strong start, with sales of stands on a par with last year, which represented a big expansion from the previous several years. Lesley Beck, show organiser reflected, ‘For many specialist suppliers, Slide is a must-attend show, so they book as soon as possible to ensure they have the right stand space. With two and a half months to go, it’s realistic to anticipate that Slide will sell out again this year.’ As well as many regular exhibitors, there are a number of new ones and some returning to the show after an absence. ‘Go UK, Buy UK’, a new campaign encouraging British skiers and snowboarders to buy their kit and equipment in the UK has been launched by Snowsports Industries of Great Britain (SIGB). The Go UK, Buy UK campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the benefits associated with buying in-store or online from a UK snowsports retailer, and specifically retailers who are members of SIGB. Whilst price is a key driver for many purchasers, there is more than just the cost to consider when buying snowsport equipment and clothing, especially as some foreign websites mask their physical location, giving the impression of being UK based. Reusch was honoured at the AGM of the Austrian Ski Pool in Innsbruck this summer, having supplied gloves to athletes for 30 years and having been worn on the hands of countless World and Olympic champions, such as Maier, Gotschl, Schild, Hirscher to name but a few. Previous exhibitors were given first refusal on their previous stands at Slide before all stands went on general release and the uptake was great. Within the first month, well over 50 stands had been booked and with more than 5 months still to go, the show is already looking as if it will rival the 2015 version for the number and variety of exhibitors.read more.

Sorel (stand C45 at slide) are thrilled to announce Emily Sarsfield as the brand’s new UK ambassador. Emily is Britain’s no.1 ski cross athlete, a Eurosport commentator, ski instructor and ski model. She is unbeaten in domestic competition, winning 8 British titles and is the first British woman to win a Europa Cup event in any discipline. Emily will be attending Slide on Tuesday, the first day of the show.read more.

The great news is that Slide is looking like being a sell-out this year in a show that is bigger and has more exhibitors than the last two years.
